This photo was taken during an antiwar protest behind the Times Square US Army recruiting office in the lead up to the January regime change operation in Venezuela. I captured an enormous advertisement behind the protest proclaiming, “Jesus is coming,” as well as a Taco Bell sign.

This view of lower Inwood can be seen from an overlook in the back of Linden Terrace in Fort Tryon Park. The buildings rise up higher the further away they are from the camera with tufts of treetops protruding through the gaps, which reminds me of a canyon.

I took this photo using the in-camera double exposure mode and high contrast B&W filter on my 2013 Ricoh GR. The first shot is of a Ben’s Chili Bowl sign that was on display at the Martin Luther King Junior Library. After taking the first shot I walked across 9th Street NW to the Gallery Place/Chinatown station where I took the second shot of a list of Green Line stops, focusing on the U Street station. The main, original Ben’s Chili Bowl is located at 1208 U Street NW.

I went to downtown Brooklyn one Saturday to walk around with my camera for a couple hours. I got off of the A train at Jay Street and took this photo on the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall, carefully lining up the Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn Borough Hall fountain with the Empire State Building rising in the far distance, using a full 65x optical zoom.

I was walking up 12th Street NW from the National Mall to Pennsylvania Avenue when I was struck by the dramatic outward curve of this building, so I snapped a picture. The architecture of the buildings here in Federal Triangle all match and fit together so that you feel their immensity while passing through. This building, the William Jefferson Clinton Building, is the headquarters of the Environmental Protection Agency.

I love this old neon sign that still lights up in Cleveland Park every night despite the original Club Soda bar being closed for years. This space has rotated hands a few times since then, but the sign stays the same.
